Addyson Galuski, a senior at Waterford-Halfmoon High School, has been named as one of the 10 scholastic award recipients for 2023 by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization.

The Capital District Sports Women of the Year (CDSWOY) honors the best and brightest female student athletes from high schools and colleges in the Capital District of New York State. The student-athletes will be recognized for their achievements in academics, athletics and community service.

Academically, Addyson is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the Honor Roll every marking period of her high school career. She accrued these achievements while holding a 96 grade point average and is currently ranked sixth in the Class of 2024.

Athletically, Addyson is currently the All-Time Leading Scorer in the history of the soccer program at Waterford-Halfmoon. She was a member of the First Team All-State Girls Soccer in 2022, Second Team All-State Girls Soccer in 2021, First Team All-Wasaren Girls Soccer in 2021 and 2022, Times Union First Team Girls Soccer in 2021 and 2022, and a team captain since 2021. She was fourth in the 400 in the outdoor track league championships this past spring.

Addyson’s community service includes volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House. She also serves as a referee for the Waterford youth Soccer program and works with the Albany Alleycats Skills Clinic. She also works with the Waterford Futsal Youth Clinic and the Waterford Skills and Drills Clinic.

“Addyson is a dedicated student-athlete who values the team over herself

and displays confidence and self-control in times of both adversity and triumph. Addyson is a kind hearted young woman who I believe will always do the right thing, even when no one is watching. She is dependable, trustworthy, and displays a high degree of integrity in everything she does.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of coaching Addyson for the last five years. Addyson is dedicated, determined, and loves the game of soccer. Her greatest strengths on the field include her ball mastery and ability to finish. She arrives early, stays late, and is the person who goes that extra mile to become better. She is a phenomenal teammate; leading by example and encouraging others to try their best. She consistently gives her best in everything she does.”
