2017 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. Each year the program selects roughly 20 college bound students who excel in leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship to receive $10,000 renewable scholarships - up to $40,000 total per recipient. Ad Club Scholarship (up to $3,000): For high school seniors or full-time college students, who are planning to enroll or currently enrolled at a Capital Region college or university, who are majoring in public communications, marketing, graphic arts, public relations, or any other communications-related curriculum.

Bebu Scholarship ($2,400): Established to provide scholarships for minority or economically disadvantaged students planning to attend SUNY Adirondack. The student must be academically high-achieving and be able to prove financial need.

Michael J. Campbell Memorial Scholarship ($1,200): This award is intended for a graduating senior enrolled in a High School Vocational Education Program in Albany, Columbia, Greene, reseller, Saratogo, Schenectady, scholar Warren and Washington County of New York State OR a freshman already enrolled in a college or university in pursuit of an Associates Degree in Construction Technology, Building Construction/Building Trades, Carpentry Haas or apos, Construction Technology (with carpentry minor), or Construction Technology/Building Construction.

Ruth Holstein Memorial Music Scholarship ($500): For a graduating senior from a Capital Region high school who will continue on to study music education or music performance. Special consideration will be given to students whose major instrument is of the woodwind family, piano students who accompany others, or students who demonstrate financial need. Herbert K. and Isabel C. Limbic Four-Year Scholarship ($20,000): Established to honor the founders of Albany Frosted Foods, one of the original companies to form sysop Corporation, by awarding a scholarship each year to the children of employees or retirees of sysop Foods of New York, Inc.. Applications are available each spring from any of the sysop Foods of New York, Inc. personnel offices. Awards are paid over four years. Herbert K. Limbic Two-Year College Scholarship (two awards of $7,000): Established to honor Mr. limbic?s lifelong work and to recognize his dedication to education, by awarding a scholarship in his name each year to the children of employees or retirees of sysop Foods of New York, Inc. Gene Robby Journalism Scholarship (up to $1,500): Established to recognize the many significant contributions that Gene Robby, former publisher of the Times Union, made to the field of journalism. The student must have a clearly demonstrated interest in journalism and provide samples of journalistic work. Personal recommendations are required. Lou Ruin and Nike Cohen Memorial Scholarship: Assists outstanding students who plan to pursue post-secondary education in college and vocational programs. Applicants must be dependent children of full-time employees of designated periodical wholesaler organizations, and/or national periodical distributors, and/or publishers in specified areas east of the Mississippi River, with one year of service. Lawrence prearrange Memorial Scholarship: Established in memory of Lawrence Spraragen to provide scholarships for children or grandchildren of current, active members of IBEW Local 236 or the management or staff of a signatory contractor to IBEW 236. Ned Carter Scholarship: These scholarships are named in memory of Past President Edward "Ned" Carter and all deceased past presidents of the State Association. In keeping with Ned's life of community service and dedication to helping others, these awards will be presented to those young people who will be pursuing a post-secondary career in the community service-related areas at either a two- or four- year college next year. The 2016 Series Scholarship for Academic Excellence The school selects our nominees by Regents exam scoring using the following formula:

  • English Regents exam - multiplied by 3
  • Trigonometry Regents exam - multiplied by 3
  • Global Regents exam
  • US History Regents exam
  • 2 Science Regents exam

The scores are added together. Our top scorer will receive a $1,500 scholarship, second and third place will each receive $500. These scholarships will only be awarded if the New York State budget allows for it.

Burnt Hills Oratorio Society Scholarship- The BHOS will hold its 20th annual vocal scholarship competition for high school seniors. Two scholarships will be awarded along with the opportunity to perform in BHOS's spring concert on May 19,2017 at Skidmore College. the winner will receive a $900 scholarship and the second place winner will receive a $600 scholarship. Applicants need not be planning a career in music, but the scholarships are intended to facilitate the continued study of singing in college. Gerard J. Buckenmeyer Fireman's Association of New York State Volunteer Scholarships- Each year twenty $1,500 scholarships FASNY will be awarded to deserving high school students during the 2016-2017 school year. Applicants must be actively participating as a volunteer firefighter or junior firefighter- including BSA Explorer posts, Venturing Crews and RAMS- or participate in a volunteer EMS program. First New York Federal Credit Union- FNYFCU is continuing their annual scholarship program by offering four $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school students who meet criteria.

Saratoga County Farm Bureau Post Secondary Scholarship A $250 scholarship will be awarded to current college students who have an interest in pursuing a career in the Agriculture Industry. Farm Bureau membership is not required to complete an application. Applicant must be a graduate of a Saratoga County, NY school. Deadline for application submission is February 1, 2017. 2017 PDK Prospective Educator Scholarship Program The PDK Educational Foundation annually awards scholarships to prospective educators. The application form is for high school seniors who intend to attend college and major in education and whose application is submitted to the local PDK chapter for consideration. Laziali Nel Mondo Scholarship of the Capital District, is a local organization which promotes the study and appreciation of the language, history and culture of the country of Italy. This organization will award two One Thousand Dollar scholarships who meet the scholarship requirements and exhibit a strong sense of pride in the culture, language and traditions of Italy (prior winners are not eligible.)   • High school seniors of Italian decent (at least one Italian ancestor) and currently enrolled in or have completed an accredited class or course dealing with the Italian language, history or culture and/ or a class dealing with Latin culture and history.

The Amy Bindelglass Memorial Scholarship The Center for Donation and Transplant established the Amy Bindelglass Memorial Scholarship with the Bindelglass family as a way to encourage students to educate themselves and others about the importance of organ donation. The Schuylerville Community Theater Scholarship Committee welcomes 2017 HS graduates to apply for the four available scholarships offered this year. The Rachel Carson Healthy Planet Award will be awarded to one deserving student nominated from each high school and community college across the United States who embodies the spirit of Rachel Carson in his or her dedication to sustainability and community development. Applicants must meet all scholarship requirements and be accepted to Chatham in order to qualify for a scholarship interview. The Rachel Carson Scholarship application deadline is April 1, 2017. The Julia O. Wells Memorial Education Foundation, Inc. offers a scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in registered professional nursing. We are pleased to announce that for 2017, a $500 scholarship will be awarded. Eligibility for award:

  • High school senior
  • Eligible for graduation
  • Documentation of provisional acceptance into either a 2 or 4 year professional accredited registered professional nursing program.

Once a candidate has been selected the enclosed high school recipient award form must be completed and returned to Chair, Julia O. Wells Scholarship Committee. All recipient award forms must be received no later than 2 weeks prior to award ceremony.

NYSUT RETIREE COUNCIL 10 is pleased to announce a $500 scholarship award for 2017 public high school graduating seniors pursuing a degree in education at either a two-year college transfer program or a four-year college. This scholarship will be given to one qualified student from each of the four counties represented by RC 10 ( Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Washington). Each student will indicate his/her intention to become an educator by completing our application. Funds are paid at the end of the first semester of freshman year of college. Upon receipt of a successful fall semester transcript by March 15, 2018, funds will be issued directly to the scholarship recipient. NYSAAF & NYSSA (Agricultural Fairs) and The Saratoga County Fair announces that up to ten scholarships in the amount of one thousand dollars each will be awarded Statewide in 2017 to students who are involved with their local County Fair. these scholarships are offered by the New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs, and the New York State Showpeoples' Association.
Eligibility listed below:

  • A current New York Sate high school senior, or enrolled in college.
  • Active at the Saratoga County Fair, and
  • Submit their application through the Fair Office no later than Friday, April 8, 2018.

The Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center, known as HM-AHEC, will be awarding ten scholarships for $500 each to high school seniors entering an approved healthcare related continuing-education program including a certification, college and/or university program. Applicants must be graduating from a school within the HM-AHEC ten-county service region, which includes: Albany, Essex, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington counties.

Winners will be chosen from the applicants who have submitted completed applications with all necessary paperwork in their entirety by the posted deadline of: 12 noon, on Monday, May 1, 2017. Priority will be given to applicants living in either Medically Underserved Areas or Health Professional Shortage Areas. Payment of scholarship fund will be made directly to the program and/ or school which the applicant will be entering. The designated education/ training program must begin no later than September 30, 2017. Incomplete applications, which will include all corresponding documentation, will not be considered. American Society of Civil Engineers Mohawk-Hudson Section- The Mohawk-Hudson Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), would like to offer qualifying graduating seniors a scholarship opportunity. Each year the Mohawk-Hudson Section offers a scholarship to a graduating senior seeking to continue their education with the goal and desire of becoming a practicing civil engineer. This year they are offering a 4-year, $1,000 per year scholarship!

Marlene Trieble Scholarship Award - is offering a $500 scholarship to a 2017 graduating college bound senior and a Saratoga County Resident. Please attach an essay of up to 400 words that describe the following:

  • Community involvement or volunteer work that you have performed within your community;
  • Volunteer experience showcasing your good citizenship and how others have benefited from your service; and
  • Illustrate how you plan to incorporate community involvement and volunteer service in your continuing education.

National Association of Women in Construction NAWIC No.261- The Capital District of the National Association of Women in Construction is currently offering a $1,000 NAWIC Scholarship award to High School seniors who are planning to pursue a career in: Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Skilled Trades, or other related fields.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be a female planning to pursue a career in a construction- related field of study.
  • Students must be in their senior year of high school and plan to attend a college or equivalent program that pertains to a construction related degree program.
  • Student must enroll as a full-time student to receive award.

Hoffman Car Wash and Jiffy Lube is proud to announce a new scholarship program for employees of our car wash and lube locations. We have many employees from local high schools continuing on to a two or four year college or trade school who may benefit from this new program. Capital District Counseling Association- The Capital District Counseling Association is pleased to offer four $1,000 scholarships for Capital Region students. These scholarships are made available to local students who are enrolling at a Capital Region undergraduate of graduate institution.

The application from, essay, current transcript and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor must be mailed together in one complete package. Official transcript must be the most complete and current transcript available, in a sealed envelope with a signature written across the seal. Transcript must indicate a minimum B (3.0) average in the current academic program. Recommendation letter from a teacher or counselor must be in a sealed envelope with a signature written across the seal. The application packet should be postmarked NO LATER THAN MAY 1, 2017 Applicants must be from the Capital Region and plan to attend a Capital Region college.

Decisions will be mailed to applicants early June. The actual monetary award will be mailed directly to the college the student has indicated they will be attending by August 15, 2017. The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern NY, Inc. is offering two college scholarships to graduating high school seniors or students who will be enrolled at any post high school institution of higher learning. The Nick Birchak Strength of Character College Scholarship and The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern NY Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each. Both scholarships will be awarded to students who are currently being treated for epilepsy and have plans to further their education. The following documentation must be submitted in order to be considered.

  • A competed application form (Deadline Friday, May 5th)
  • A copy of the letter verifying admission to college/university
  • A statement of epilepsy diagnosis from their physician
  • A short essay (see application for details)
  • A recent portrait style photograph

2017 Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship would like to invite high school seniors who intend to pursue postsecondary education at a community college or technical school in Fall of 2017 to apply for the Horatio Alger Association Career & Technical Scholarship Program. Must be competed by June 15, 2017. [email protected]

To be considered eligible for the Horatio Alger Scholarship Program, applicants must:

  • Have competed high school or plan to complete high school by Spring 2017 with plans to enroll at a non-profit post-secondary institution by fall 2017
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States.
  • Demonstrate critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)
  • Demonstrate perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Be involved in community service activities
  • Be 30years old or younger
  • Be a United States citizen

George Sheffield Memorial Scholarship: Two $1250 Awards annually, eligibility:

  • Must be a child of a CSEA Local 801 member in good standing. (A municipal, or board of education employee within Albany County).
  • Must be a high school senior graduating in June of the current year.
  • Has at least a cumulative "B", 80%, or 3.0 grade point average.
  • Must show proof of acceptance to a two or four year college, university or trade school.

Acceptance criteria: Academic record, school activities and financial necessity.

Newmeadow Funiciello Scholarship: Newmeadow Funiciello Scholarship was created by the Newmeadow, Inc. Board of Directors in 2012. The scholarship is named in honor of the school's founders, Dr. Thomas and Mrs. Donna Funiciello. Dr. and Mrs. Funiciello are both former educators and also served as the school's first executive director and program director, respectively.

Awards range from $500 to $2500. The deadline for applications is July 31, 2017. The scholarship application and application requirements may be found on our website at WWW.newmeadow.org/scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must be an alumnus of Newmeadow Preschool. The student must be a graduating high school senior accepted into a two or four- year college program for the upcoming fall semester or a current college student continuing in a two or four- year college program.
