A Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School District senior has received special recognition from the Adirondack Area School Boards Association for her outstanding work in the field of community service.

Senior Juliana Foster was among the group of 29 students throughout the region to receive a $350 award for her hard work outside of the classroom.

As part of her efforts to support her local community, Juliana packed and donated more than 800 bags to assist those in need through the SUNY's Got Your Back Program. She also serves as a student shadow and speaker for Malta TecSmart to help motivate younger students to participate in the program. Additionally, Juliana can be found giving time helping staff at the Kitten Angels Cat Rescue, and completing a variety of tasks to support the staff at Faith's Food Pantry.

When she isn't volunteering, Juliana is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as Vice President for the Waterford-Halfmoon High School Class of 2023. Juliana was selected for the President's List in the Hudson Valley Community College Early College High School Program for her work in the field of clean technologies.
