Winning Writers Selected in Horror Story Contest
Posted on 11/02/2022

This Halloween, Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School District Librarian Mrs. Doremus, created a Horror Story Contest for students to write original, scary stories. Each story had to be two sentences long and school appropriate, with the winners receiving gift cards provided by the Waterford-Halfmoon UFSD PTO.
More than 120 students participated in the contest this year, and four winners were chosen.

Congratulations to the following winners:

Two students tied for third place, each winning a $10 Stewart's Shops gift card. Congratulations to Ariana Catalano (10th grade) and to Isabella Savage (7th grade).

In second place, winning a $15 Dunkin gift card, congratulations to Jackson Broderick (9th grade).

Finally, congratulations to Sophie Conroy (11th grade), the first-place grand prize winner, receiving a $25 Amazon gift card.
Thank you to all the students who participated this year. To view the winning submissions, you can visit our library website here.

We also want to thank our staff - specifically our English department, our entire library staff, and our principal - for encouraging our students to participate in this year’s contest.
