  • Waterford Halfmoon Elementary School is looking for substitute teachers. Candidates may be either certified or uncertified. Positions include grades Pre-K through 6.

    • Uncertified Teacher: $105/day
    • Certified Teacher: $130/day

NON-INSTRUCTIONAL POSITIONS

  • The Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School District is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as Secretary to the Jr./Sr. High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. This position provides clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of school administrative functions and athletic programs.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide clerical support to the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director
    • Maintain confidential student and personnel records in accordance with district policies and applicable regulations
    • Assist with scheduling, correspondence, and daily office operations
    • Support athletic program operations, including scheduling contests, coordinating transportation, and maintaining athletic records
    • Process paperwork related to student discipline, attendance, and athletic eligibility
    • Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members
    • Manage data entry and maintain accurate records using district systems
    • Assist with event coordination and school activities as needed
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
    • Proficiency in office technology and software 
    • Prior experience in a school or office setting preferred

    Minimum Qualifications

    Candidates must meet one of the following Civil Service requirements:
    A. Possession of an Associate’s Degree and one (1) year of clerical experience which must have involved the routine use of standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases; OR
    B. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and three (3) years of clerical experience which must have involved the routine use of standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases; OR
    C. Three (3) years of college-level study may be substituted for the required clerical experience as described above.

    Appointment: 12-Month Position (Terms and conditions per CSEA Contract)
    Start Date: July 1, 2026
    Salary and Benefits: Per CSEA Contract

  • This class is a  Functional Skills Classroom for elementary level students (6:1:2). The Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of all students with disabilities and create an enriching classroom environment. Students will receive a comprehensive array of related services and some will utilize augmentative/alternative communication (AAC) devices. There will be a full time Teaching Assistant and Teacher Aide. Additionally, there will be a part time Occupational Therapist and part time Speech Therapist that will staff the classroom opposite times of the day (ie. OT 8:00-11:30 & Speech 11:30-3:00). Furthermore, we will have Music Therapy for all enrolled students.

    Teaching Assistant Requirements

    • Teaching Assistant - Level 1 certification (or within 40 days of hire)
    • Prefer experience working with student on the Autism Spectrum

    This is a permanent, 10 month, tenure track position. Per the CSEA contract, the salary is more than $16.54 per hour (this was the ‘25-’26 rate. The union is currently in negotiations). A generous benefits package is available. Staff are eligible to participate in the NYS Employee Retirement System (ERS).

    Teacher Aide Requirements

    • Prefer experience working with student on the Autism Spectrum

    This is a permanent, 10 month position. Per the CSEA contract, the salary is more than $16.00 per hour (this was the ‘25-’26 rate.The union is currently in negotiations). A generous benefits package is available.

  • Waterford-Halfmoon Junior/Senior High School is in search of a school counselor to serve our students. This position will focus on grades 7 through 9. Responsibilities include transition from the elementary school, scheduling, counseling, and meeting the daily needs of these students. The successful candidate will be student focused, a team player and dynamic. Must have valid New York state certification.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving students breakfast and lunch meals, preparing food according to the USDA standards for child nutrition and following all safety and sanitation regulations within the county and state. This is a ten-month position.
