INSTRUCTIONAL POSITIONS

  • The Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of all students with disabilities and create an enriching classroom environment.  

    Special Education Teacher Expectations:

    • Provides specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP;
    • Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques;
    • Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.

    Special Education Teacher Key Qualities:

    • Builds positive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues;
    • Practices patience with all students, families and colleagues;
    • Always seeking new ways to teach students the way they learn.

    Teacher Applicant Requirements

    • Special Education K-2 and 1-6 certification required

NON-INSTRUCTIONAL POSITIONS

  • The Waterford-Halfmoon Elementary School is seeking two dedicated School Monitors to provide supervision in various locations. We invite qualified individuals who are passionate about fostering a supportive educational environment to apply for this rewarding opportunity.     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Offer management, emotional support, and guidance to the students.
    • Provide redirection and encouragement in reinforcing the expectations.
    • Provide modeling for the use of coping strategies.
    • Maintain direct supervision of students throughout the school day.
    • Note: No reteaching of academic material will be required for this position.

    This is a part-time, 10-month position, up to 3 hours per day.. Pay and eligible benefits per the CSEA contract.

  • Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School District is seeking a qualified candidate for a School Nurse position assigned to St. Mary’s School in Waterford, serving students in Prekindergarten through Grade 8.

    Position: School Nurse

    Location: St. Mary’s School, Waterford, NY

    Grade Levels: PreK–8

    Responsibilities

    The School Nurse will provide health services and support to students and staff, including:

    • Providing first aid, emergency care, and routine nursing services

    • Managing student medications and health care plans

    • Maintaining required student health records and documentation

    • Monitoring student health needs and communicating with families, staff, and health care providers as appropriate

    • Supporting students with chronic or acute medical conditions

    • Assisting with required screenings and other school health-related responsibilities

    • Working collaboratively with school and district personnel to promote a safe and healthy school environment

    Qualifications

    • Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required

    • Current CPR/AED certification

    • Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred

    • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with school personnel, families, and health care providers

  • The Waterford-Halfmoon Elementary School is seeking two dedicated Teacher Aides to provide one-to-one support for elementary students.  The successful candidates will work closely with an assigned student throughout the school day, providing individualized support to promote academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success.

    Responsibilities include modeling appropriate behaviors, offering guidance and encouragement, assisting the student in following classroom routines and expectations, and helping them navigate the school day effectively. The ideal candidates are patient, dependable, collaborative, and committed to fostering a positive, supportive learning environment.

    • Maintain direct supervision of the student throughout the school day.

  • This position is for an Aide in a new Elementary Functional Skills Classroom (6:1:2). The classroom team will include a Special Education Teacher who will develop and provide individualized instruction to meet the unique educational needs of students with disabilities, with the support of an aide and teaching assistant, and related service providers.  We are seeking candidates for the aide position, who are enthusiastic about collaborating with a dedicated team to create a supportive, engaging, and enriching learning environment.

    Students in this classroom will receive a comprehensive range of related services designed to support their academic, communication, social, and functional development. Some students will use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and will require assistance with daily living skills, including toileting.

    The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, flexible, and committed to supporting students with diverse learning, communication, and functional needs while working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families.

    Teacher Aide Requirements

    • Prefer experience working with student on the Autism Spectrum

     

    This is a permanent, 10 month position. Per the CSEA contract, the salary is $16.64 per hour. A generous benefits package is available.
