This position reports to the Director of Student Support Services. The Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of all students with disabilities. This position requires adaptability and a positive attitude.
Position is split between 3rd and 5th grade.
Special Education Teacher Expectations
-Provides specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP.
-Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
-Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.Special Education Teacher Key Qualities
-Builds positive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues.
-Practices patience with all students, families and colleagues.

-Special Education K-6 certification required.This is a long-term substitute position from approximately October 6 through December 19.
The approval of substitute teacher pay rate is as follows:
Per diem rate:
-Non-certified substitute teacher: $105 daily rate
-NYS Certified substitute teacher: $130 daily rate
-Retired New York State Certified teachers from Waterford-Halfmoon UFSD: $180 daily rate
-Retired New York State Certified teachers from any district: $155 daily rateShort term leave (1-89 consecutive days for same WHUFSD teacher):
-Days 1-10: Per diem rates for non-certified and certified as listed above
-Days 11 – 89: $170 daily rate

NON-INSTRUCTIONAL POSITIONS

The Waterford-Halfmoon UFSD is seeking dynamic individuals to join our team as Teaching Assistants or Teacher Aides, working closely with our students to enhance their educational experience.
Permanent Teaching Assistant/Teacher Aide
Location: Junior High School
Duration: 10-month position
Responsibilities: This role focuses primarily on providing support to one student, ensuring their academic and emotional needs are met in a nurturing environment.Long-Term Substitute Teaching Assistant/Teacher Aide
Location: Senior High School
Program: Life Skills Program
Duration: Approximately from October 20 to December 12
Responsibilities: Support students in our Life Skills program, assisting with daily activities and fostering independence.Qualifications: Candidates should possess a caring demeanor, a flexible approach to teaching, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both students and staff. The Waterford-Halfmoon Elementary School is seeking three dedicated School Monitors to provide supervision in various locations. We invite qualified individuals who are passionate about fostering a supportive educational environment to apply for this rewarding opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer management, emotional support, and guidance to the students.
- Provide redirection and encouragement in reinforcing the expectations during the school day.
- Provide modeling for the use of coping strategies.
- Maintain direct supervision of students throughout the school day.
- Note: No reteaching of academic material will be required for this position
This is a part-time, 10 month position, up to three hours per day. Pay per the CSEA contract.

-Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
