2019 American Society of Civil Engineers Mohawk-Hudson SectionThe Mohawk-Hudson Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), would like to offer qualifying graduating seniors a scholarship opportunity. Each year the Mohawk-Hudson Section offers a scholarship to a graduating senior seeking to continue their education with the goal and desire of becoming a practicing civil engineer. This year they are offering a 4-year, $1,000 per year scholarship! Applications with essay and GPA transcript must be postmarked by Friday, May 3, 2019. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. 

2019 John and Jo Ann Anderson Humanitarian Award
Please write a double-spaced, typed essay of 350-500 words describing your participation in community/ school service activities. Be sure to include what your involvement has meant to you.

2019 CSEA Albany County Local 801 George Sheffield Memorial Scholarship
1. Must be a dependent of a CSEA local 801 member in good standing.
2. Must be a high school senior graduating in June of the current year.
3. Have at least cumulative "B", 80%, or 3.0 grade point average.
4. Must show proof of acceptance to a two or four year college, university or trade school.

The Dreyer Boyajian LaMarche Safranko (www.dbls.comLaw Scholarship Award is given to a graduating senior that encompasses the following qualities: heart, compassion, work ethic, leadership skills.  In addition, the student should be involved in National Honor Society and athletics or school activities.  This award is selected annually by our faculty.

2019 Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship would like to invite high school seniors who intend to pursue postsecondary education at a community college or technical school in Fall of 2019 to apply for the Horatio Alger Association Career & Technical Scholarship Program. Must be competed by June 15, 2019.

To be considered eligible for the Horatio Alger Scholarship Program, applicants must:

  • Have competed high school or plan to complete high school by Spring 2019 with plans to enroll at a non-profit post-secondary institution by fall 2019
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States.
  • Demonstrate critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)
  • Demonstrate perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Be involved in community service activities
  • Be 30years old or younger
  • Be a United States citizen


2019 The Julia O. Wells Memorial Education Foundation, Inc. offers a scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in registered professional nursing. One $500 scholarship will be awarded. Eligibility for award:

  • High school senior
  • Eligible for graduation
  • Documentation of provisional acceptance into either a 2 or 4 year professional accredited registered professional nursing program.

Once a candidate has been selected the enclosed high school recipient award form must be completed and returned to Chair, Julia O. Wells Scholarship Committee. All recipient award forms must be received no later than 2 weeks prior to award ceremony. 

2019 Joanne Mazula Academic Scholarship
Applicant must be a female student graduating from Waterford-Halfmoon High School this June with a minimum 3.0 grade point average and planning to attend a four-year college or university NOT within commuting distance of Waterford.
Application is available in the Guidance Office. Application must be postmarked by May 31. 

2019 Newmeadow Scholarship: Newmeadow Funiciello Scholarship was created by the Newmeadow, Inc. Board of Directors in 2012. The scholarship is named in honor of the school's founders, Dr. Thomas and Mrs. Donna Funiciello. Dr. and Mrs. Funiciello are both former educators and also served as the school's first executive director and program director, respectively.

Awards range from $500 to $2500. The deadline for applications is May 15, 2019. The scholarship application and application requirements may be found on our website at

To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must be an alumnus of Newmeadow Preschool. The student must be a graduating high school senior accepted into a two or four- year college program for the upcoming fall semester or a current college student continuing in a two or four- year college program.

2020 NYSUT RETIREE COUNCIL 10 is pleased to announce a $1,000 scholarship award for 2019 public high school graduating seniors pursuing a degree in education at either a two-year college transfer program or a four-year college. This scholarship will be given to one qualified student from each of the four counties represented by RC 10 ( Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Washington). Each student will indicate his/her intention to become an educator by completing the application. Funds will be paid at the end of the first semester of freshman year of college. Upon receipt of a successful fall semester transcript by March 20, 2020, funds will be issued directly to the scholarship recipient. Candidate must submit application and materials postmarked by March 14th. The application is available in the Guidance Office. 

2019 Ponton Law Scholarship. This scholarship is now available to any high school senior in the United States that desires to apply. More information can be found on our scholarship application below:

2019 Saratoga Builders Association, Inc. will be awarding two $1,000 student scholarships. The scholarship is available to high school seniors or college undergraduates who are planning to pursue construction education at a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university or to students who would like to purchase tools for employment in construction. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. You must demonstrate current or past involvement in the construction field, including classes taken in high school, to be eligible for this award. You must also submit a high school or college transcript or list of construction classes taken and a short essay (less than 500 words) describing why you are interested in a construction industry career and what events led you to this decision. 
Additional Information: Applications for the Saratoga Builders Association $1,000 scholarship must be postmarked on or before April 1, 2019. Only the first 25 complete applications will be accepted so please apply early! A copy of the application is available in the Guidance Office.

2020 Saratoga County Educational Local 864
The CSEA Local Scholarship Committee will recommend awards of $500 be given to three graduating high school seniors who are children of employees represented by Local 864. Selection will be based on: academic record, school activities, outside work, community service, goals, and essay. 
Local 864 Academic Achievement Award: Special consideration given to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement or have overcome adversity to graduate. 
Local 864 Community Service Award: Special consideration given to sutdents who demonstrate, through activities and/or awards, commitment and service to their school or local community.
Charles Luch Memorial Award: Student planning to attend a 2-year trade school will receive special consideration.

2019 Saratoga County Farm Bureau Post Secondary Scholarship: A $250 scholarship will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing post-secondary education for a career in agriculture or agribusiness. Farm Bureau membership is not required to complete an application. Applicant must be a graduate of a Saratoga County, NY school.Winners will be awarded on Sunday, June 16, 2019 (Father's Day) at Sundae on the Farm event and checks will be dispersed upon successful completion of the applicant's first semester of college and proof of enrollment for a second semester. 2019 Saratoga County Medical Socity Scholarship
The scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000 and is based on a student's academic performance, extracurricular activities, an essay, and a letter of recommendation. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior from Saratoga County whose intent is to further his or her education in a health-related field. 2019 The Schuylerville Community Theater Scholarship Committee welcomes 2019 HS graduates to apply for the four available scholarships offered this year. 2019 Waterford-Halfmoon Teachers' Association Scholarship
$1,000 will be awarded to a deserving Senior who plans to further their education at college or trade school. To be considered for this scholarship, you must fill out the application and submit the required essay online via the WTA Scholarship Google Classroom. The code is available in the Guidance Office. Applications and essays must be submitted by midnight on Friday, May 10, 2019. 

2019 Women's Republican Club of Saratoga County: Marlene Trieble Scholarship Award - is offering a $500 scholarship to a 2019 graduating college bound senior and a Saratoga County Resident. An essay of up to 400 words is required that describe the following:

  • Community involvement or volunteer work that you have performed within your community;
  • Volunteer experience showcasing your good citizenship and how others have benefited from your service; and
  • Illustrate how you plan to incorporate community involvement and volunteer service in your continuing education.

2019 YMCA Camp Chingachgook Earth Service Awards: For students grades 9-12 living in Washington, Warren, and Saratoga counties. These awards will be given to students contributing to the improvement of natural resources and the environment, and the extent to which the applicant has learned fro the experience; leadership demonstrated in the planning and execution of an environmentally themed project, program, or service in the community; and the extent to which the applicant has encouraged others to understand, appreciate, and practice sound conservation and environmental stewardship.

2018 Ad Club Scholarship (up to $3,400): For high school seniors or full-time college students, who are planning to enroll or currently enrolled at a Capital Region college or university, who are majoring in public communications, marketing, graphic arts, public relations, or any other communications-related curriculum. Applications available at Applications due March 12, 2018.

2018 American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships: For application and additional information stop by the Guidance Office. 
The following scholarships are due March 18, 2018:
Department Scholarship: A scholarship of $1,000 shall be awarded to an eligible candidate planning to further his/her higher education. 
Department District Scholarship: A scholarship of $1,000 shall be awarded to an eligible candidate planning to further his/her higher education. 
Raymond T. Wellington Jr. Memorial Scholarship: A scholarship of $1,000 shall be awarded to an eligible candidate planning to further his/her higher education.
Mary Ann K. Murtha Memorial Scholarship: A scholarship of $1,000 shall be awarded to an eligible candidate planning to further his/her higher education. 
Helen Klimek Student Scholarship:  A scholarship of $1,000 shall be awarded to an eligible candidate planning to further his/her higher education. 
Past President's Parley Scholarship in Medical Field: There will be two (2) scholarships of $1,000 each awarded to an eligible candidate planning to further his/her higher education in the Medical Field and one (1) Non-Traditional Scholarship. 
For all of the above American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships candidates for this  award shall be daughters', granddaughters, great-granddaughter, son, grandson,  great-grandsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during WWI, WWII, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam War, Grenada/Lebanon, Panama, The Persian Gulf, and War on Terrorism. Applicants must be a United States citizen and a resident of New York State. Applicants must be a senior or a graduate of an accredited High School. 

2018 The Amy Bindelglass Memorial Scholarship 
The Center for Donation and Transplant established the Amy Bindelglass Memorial Scholarship with the Bindelglass family as a way to encourage students to educate themselves and others about the importance of organ donation. Award will be $750 to the top applicant. To be eligible please see criteria below and send you scholarship submission along with Name, address, phone number, email, grade level, and name of high school to  Emailed essagys must be submitted as Word or PDF documents attached to the email. Please do not submit the essay in the body of the email itself. Submission must be post marked or emailed the end of the day Friday, March 30, 2018.

2019 Dr. Joseph E. Bowman, Jr. Memorial Educational Scholarship
The Dr. Joseph E. Bowman, Jr. Memorial Educational Scholarship is sponsored through donations and will be administered by the Macedonia Baptist Church Scholarship Fund Ministry in conjunction with the Macedonia Baptist Church Board of Trustees. The one-time non-renewable scholarship is available for students who will pursue a higher education career in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). The scholarship will be awarded to eligible high school senior students who are underrepresented to include members and non-members of Macedonia Baptist Church that attend any Capital District Region high school and who plan to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college/university after graduation. The amount funded by donations is for a specified period. The amount designated will be awarded to a recipient to be used toward the purchase of books and/or assist with any college-related fees or tuition.

2018 Burnt Hills Oratorio Society Scholarship- 
 The BHOS will hold its 21st annual vocal scholarship competition for high school seniors. Two scholarships will be awarded along with an invitation to perform in an upcoming BHOS concert. The winner will receive a $900 scholarship and the second place winner will receive a $600 scholarship. Applicants need not be planning a career in music, but the scholarships are intended to facilitate the continued study of singing in college. To be eligible all candidates must complete an application form, which is available on the BHOS's website or by contacting Susanne Margono at

Applications must be received by February 2, 2018. 

2019 Capital District Counseling Association- The Capital District Counseling Association is pleased to offer four $1,000 scholarships for Capital Region students. These scholarships are made available to local students who are enrolling at a Capital Region undergraduate of graduate institution.


The application form, essay, current transcript and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor must be mailed together in one complete package. Official transcript must be the most complete and current transcript available, in a sealed envelope with a signature written across the seal. Transcript must indicate a minimum B (3.0) average in the current academic program. Recommendation letter from a teacher or counselor must be in a sealed envelope with a signature written across the seal. The application packet should be postmarked NO LATER THAN MAY 1, 2019. Applicants must be from the Capital Region and plan to attend a Capital Region college. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

Decisions will be mailed to applicants early June. The actual monetary award will be mailed directly to the college the student has indicated they will be attending by August 15, 2019. Application packets must be postmarked by May 1, 2019.

2019 Capital District Counseling Association First Generation Scholarship Application
The 2019 First Generation Scholarship is a one-time amount of $2,500. The following must be sent with your application and postmarked no later than May 1, 2019:
1. Completed application form.
2. An essay on the following topic (between 250-500 words):
What does it mean to you to be a first generation college student? How will receiving a college degree impact your future?
3. Your high school transcript, in a sealed envelope with a signature written across the seal. Transcript should indicate a minimum cumulative 85 average.
4. One letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor, in a sealed envelope with a signature across the seal.

2019 The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern NY, Inc. is offering two college scholarships to graduating high school seniors or students who will be enrolled at any post high school institution of higher learning. The Nick Birchak Strength of Character College Scholarship and The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern NY Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each. Both scholarships will be awarded to students who are currently being treated for epilepsy and have plans to further their education. The following documentation must be submitted in order to be considered.

  • A competed application form (Available in the Guidance Office)
  • A copy of the letter verifying admission to college/university
  • A statement of epilepsy diagnosis from their physician
  • A short essay (see application for details)
  • A recent portrait style photograph

2018 The Filene Music Scholarship Competition at Skidmore: The scholarship package includes $15,000 per year toward tuition, plus lesson fees (is awarded independent of any additional need-based aid). The Filene scholarship program does not require that scholarship winners major in music. The Music Department only requires winners to remain active in its musical life, including participation in appropriate ensembles. The competition is open to high school seniors interested in pursuing a liberal arts education at Skidmore. Eligible students must meet the criteria for admission to Skidmore. The deadline for the preliminary round, through submission via Slideroom on the Common Application, is January 15, 2018.

2020   Fireman's Association of New York State (FASNY)  Scholarships: This year 25 $1,500 scholarships will be awarded during the 2019-2020 academic year. Applicants must be actively participating as a volunteer firefighter or junior firefighter- including BSA Explorer posts, Venturing Crews and RAMS- or participate in a volunteer EMS program. 2020 First New York Federal Credit Union Scholarship Award Application. Four $1,000 scholarships will be offered to any member meeting the criteria: 



1. The applicant must be a First New York Federal Credit Union member in good standing, 
2. The applicant must be a graduating high school senior, 
3. The applicant must plan to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college, and 4. The applicant must be an active volunteer and/or active in their community. Additional information is available at:

2019 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. Each year the program selects roughly 20 college bound students who excel in leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship to receive $10,000 renewable scholarships - up to $40,000 total per recipient. 2018 Gene Robb Journalism Scholarship (up to $4,200): Established to recognize the many significant contributions that Gene Robby, former publisher of the Times Union, made to the field of journalism. The student must have a clearly demonstrated interest in journalism and provide samples of journalistic work. Personal recommendations are required. Applications available at Application due March 12, 2018.

2019 George Sheffield Memorial Scholarship: Two $1,250 awards available.


  • Must be a child of a CSEA Local 801 member in good standing. (A municipal, or board of education employee within Albany County).
  • Must be a high school senior graduating in June of the current year.
  • Has at least a cumulative "B", 80%, or 3.0 grade point average.
  • Must show proof of acceptance to a two or four year college, university or trade school.

Acceptance criteria: Academic record, school activities and financial necessity. Deadline: May 1, 2019.

2018 Halfmoon - Waterford Fire Company American Studies Scholarships: Three scholarships are available, two $1,000 awards and one $500 award. To be eligible you must be 1. a Shen H.S, Waterford-Halfmoon H.S., or a Home-School Senior. Additional consideration will be given to Volunteer First-Responders and those pursuing degrees in related fields. Application packages must include the following: 1. a completed application form, signed by the applicant; 2. a certifed copy of your current High School Transcripts with Class Standing listed; and 3. a personal letter explaining why you are best-qualifed which must also include all Voluntary, Civic and Community activities.

2019 Hoffman Car Wash and Jiffy Lube is proud to announce their 2019 scholarship program for employees of their car wash and lube locations. Hoffman's has many employees from local high schools continuing on to a two or four year college or trade school who may benefit from this program.  
Applications are due Friday, March 29, 2019. 

2018 Horatio Alger Scholarship - Eligibility criteria include: high school graduation in spring/summer, demonstrated critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income), and United States citizenship. Application deadline is October 25, 2018. Apply online at 

2018 Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center will award up to ten scholarships for $500 each to high school seniors entering an approved healthcare related program at a local community college and/or a certification program. Applicants must be a graduating senior. Recipients are expected to participate in at least one informative two-hour health careers exploration program and be able to help present it at a local high school after successfully completing their certificate program or freshman year of college. Application must be submitted by April 2, 2018. Applications and additional information is available in the guidance office. 

2018 Junior League of Albany 
is pleased to announce that it is currently accepting applications for its Rockwell Scholarship Award. Eligibility Criteria: 1. A female resident of the Capital District; and 2. A high school (or equivalent) graduate currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or secondary educational or vocational program; or 3. A candidate for high school graduation in the 2017-18 school year who will be applying for enrollment in an accredited college, university or secondary educational or vocational program for the 2018-19 academic year; and 4. Currently involved in volunteer organizations or activities which serve the same or related focus areas as the Junior League of Albany; and 5. Able to demonstrate citizenship and initiative. 2019 Macedonia Merit Scholarship
The Macedonia Merit Scholarship is sponsored by the Macedonia Scholarship Fund and is administered by the Fund in conjunction with the Macedonia Baptist Church Board of Trustees. This scholarship is available to outstanding high school seniors of African ancestry attending an accredited high school, and at the time of application have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater on a scale of 4.0. The total amount designated will be awarded to recipients to be used toward the purchase of books and/or college tuition and fees. The Macedonia Merit Scholarship is a direct investment in the future of Capital District region youth seeking educational achievement, advancement and success.

2019 Lawrence Madeiros Scholarship Application
Eligibility Requirements: 1. Applicants must be diagnosed with a bleeding disorder or other chronic disorder; 2. Applicants MUST be Graduating from High School in the year of the Scholarship Award; and 3. Applicants must have applied to, been accepted at, an accredited college or university.

2018 Lou Rubin and Ike Cohen Memorial Scholarship ($6,100): Assists outstanding students who plan to pursue post-secondary education in college and vocational programs. Applicants must be dependent children of full-time employees of designated periodical wholesaler organizations, and/or national periodical distributors, and/or publishers in specified areas east of the Mississippi River, with one year of service. Applications available at Application due March 12, 2018.

2018 Michael J. Campbell Memorial Scholarship ($1,500): This award is intended for a graduating senior enrolled in a High School Vocational Education Program in Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, scholar Warren and Washington County of New York State OR a freshman already enrolled in a college or university in pursuit of an Associates Degree in Construction Technology, Building Construction/Building Trades, Carpentry AAS or AOS, Construction Technology (with carpentry minor), or Construction Technology/Building Construction. Applications available at Application deadline: March 12, 2018.

2018 National Association of Women in Construction NAWIC No.261The Capital District of the National Association of Women in Construction is currently offering a $1,000 NAWIC Scholarship award to High School seniors who are planning to pursue a career in: Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Skilled Trades, or other related fields.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be a female planning to pursue a career in a construction- related field of study.
  • Students must be in their senior year of high school and plan to attend a college or equivalent program that pertains to a construction related degree program.
  • Student must enroll as a full-time student to receive award.

2019 Ned Carter Scholarship: These scholarships are named in memory of Past President Edward "Ned" Carter and all deceased past presidents of the State Association. The student MUST be related to a firefighter, be a firefighter, or be an explorer in a fire department, that is a member of The Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York. In keeping with Ned's life of community service and dedication to helping others, these scholarships will be presented to high school seniors who will be pursuing a career in a community service related discipline. 2019 New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs & New York State Showpeople's Association
 announces that up to seven (10) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded Statewide in 2019 to students who are (or have previously been) active in a fair that is a member of the NYSAAF or the NYSSA and who plan to attend (or already attend) college in pursuit of a degree. The fair where you have been active or the NYSSA must endorse your application and will submit it for you.

2018 has just launched its fourth annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to a future nurse in the high school graduating class of 2018. They will award this scholarship to the applicant who best demonstrates:

- A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics.
- A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare.
This scholarship competition is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on August 31, 2018. 

2018 PDK Prospective Educator Scholarship Program The PDK Educational Foundation annually awards scholarships to prospective educators. The application form is for high school seniors who intend to attend college and major in education and whose application is submitted to the local PDK chapter for consideration. 2018 The Rachel Carson Healthy Planet Award
 will be awarded to one deserving student nominated from each high school and community college across the United States who embodies the spirit of Rachel Carson in his or her dedication to sustainability and community development. Applicants must meet all scholarship requirements and be accepted to Chatham in order to qualify for a scholarship interview. The Rachel Carson Scholarship application deadline is June 1, 2018. The 2016 Series Scholarship for Academic Excellence
 The school selects our nominees by Regents exam scoring using the following formula:

  • English Regents exam - multiplied by 3
  • Trigonometry Regents exam - multiplied by 3
  • Global Regents exam
  • US History Regents exam
  • 2 Science Regents exam

The scores are added together. Our top scorer will receive a $1,500 scholarship, second and third place will each receive $500. These scholarships will only be awarded if the New York State budget allows for it.

2018 Workforce Development Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship. Applicant can be anyone who is planning to attend a technical school or approved craft training program in any discipline of construction, including a high school senior, military member, or post-secondary student.
