High School Lead Testing Results

Water test results for Waterford-Halfmoon High School and Bus Garage were received by school officials on December 8, 2016 and the district took immediate action.

Of the 111 samples drawn throughout the high school and bus garage buildings, 16 locations showed elevated lead levels of over 15 parts per billion (ppb), as summarized below:

  • 1 Sink in room 233 (43.4 PPB)
  • 1 Wash sink in room 233 (15.7 PPB)
  • 1 Teacher desk sink in room 237 (29.4 PB)
  • 1 Sink in room 237 (18.6 PPB)
  • 1 Eye wash station in room 237 (44.6 PPB)
  • 1 Sink in room 235 (72.1 PPB)
  • 1 Sink in room 235 (24.7 PPB)
  • 1 Teacher desk sink in room 233 (37 PPB)
  • 1 Garden hose connection in the bus garage (53.3)
  • 1 Eye wash station in room 231 (166 PPB)
  • 1 Sink in room 229 (178 PPB)
  • 1 Eye wash station in room 229 (121 PPB)
  • 1 Sink in room 229 (18.9)
  • 1 Sink in room 314 (91.6 PPB)
  • 1 Sink in room 320 (160 PPB)
  • 1 Eye wash station in the bus garage (25.8 PPB)

The sources will be remediated and then tested and confirmed to be below the state's action level prior to returning them to active service.

Elementary School Lead Testing Results

Water test results for Waterford-Halfmoon Elementary School were received by school officials on November 2, 2016 and the district took immediate action.

Of the 94 samples drawn throughout the elementary school building, six locations showed elevated lead levels of over 15 parts per billion (ppb), as summarized below:

  • Water fountain in the elementary girls locker room (17 PPB)
  • Kitchen ice machine (20 PPB)
  • Elementary Nurse's eye wash station (16 PPB)
  • Kitchen faucet in room 132 (19PPB)
  • Elementary art storage kitchen faucet (160 PPB)
  • Elementary boys locker room bathroom sink (left) (59 PPB)

The sources will be remediated and then tested and confirmed to be below the state's action level prior to returning them to active service.
