1. The
Board will continue to monitor the building projects within the
district. The Board will work with the Superintendent of Schools to make
sure that appropriate progress is made and time lines are followed. The
Board will charge the Superintendent of Schools and the Supt. of
Building and Grounds to establish appropriate monitoring schedules and
to report back to the Board on the progress of each of the projects
currently underway. The Board will also charge the Superintendent of
Schools and the Supt. of Building and Grounds to keep the Building and
Grounds Committee apprised of district needs with respect to the
physical plant.
2. The
Board of Education would like to review the role and responsibility of
the current guidance department staff. This would entail the interaction
with parents, students and staff. It will be a goal of the Board of
Education to provide as much one-to-one contact with students and
parents as is physically possible. Items to review will include
communication with parents, meetings with students, frequency of career
planning and other areas that are important for families to be involved
with in the planning process of their children’s future.
3. The
Board of Education shares the district concerns over continued
harassment in the school, on school grounds and in the community. As is
with all schools in the nation, this is building to an epidemic
proportion. The Board of Education will zero in on all forms of
harassment/bullying and strive with the administration to provide an
atmosphere that discourages all forms of harassment/bullying. Therefore
the Board will work with the administration and staff in developing
programs within the school to identify and stop these activities.
4. The
Board of Education is spearheading a drive to bring back more tradition
and values to the district. The overall desire is to promote more school
spirit and pride. The long term goals will be to enhance
school-community involvement. This will become a yearly goal and will
continue to be worked on with the school staff and administration.
5. As
usual, all past goals will be continued unless they were completed on a
short term basis. The administration will continue to provide reports to
the Board on the status of the programs in the building and the
educational community.
